advertisment reflection

http://media.creativebloq.futurecdn.net/sites/creativebloq.com/files/images/2014/01/yogabig.jpg. The image is of a spine coiled up like a snake and the caption reads " before your back attacks you".It is for Ashtonga Yoga , a type of yoga.. The social implication is that most people in our society have bad backs, either due to hard work, genetics, or obesity. The yoga studio was clever in using an image almost all people fear, and tieing it in with the broad audience they are trying to reach. In addition to a service the ad is also trying to sell the feeling of relaxation and destressing. the image is one that nobody wants to think about for ther own body, but the truth is we all have the potential to have a bad back. i like the irony of using a fear based image to promote health and relaxation.

Pop culture as a whole has always been a part of humanity. It was not until recently that it has been recognised as a legitament subject for study. Once scolors accepted pop culture as a valid academia to be studied, pop culture changed to a power struggle between the elite and the masses. Today the masses have taken thier place on the "pop" side of the cultural spectrum, as a polar opposite to "high brow" culture. The balance of this scale is always fluctuating. To this end, the study of this phenominon will always be neccisary to "keep up with the jone's".
